The accumulation panel stores part of the heat during burning and releases it later. Thanks to this, the casing can cool differently than a lightweight structure, which reacts quickly to heating and extinguishing the fire. Accumulation does not generate additional energy: it changes the way heat is released into the room.
Accumulation and insulation are different tasks
The insulation board limits the flow of heat through a given layer. The accumulation board is meant to participate in storing it. These materials can appear in one project, but in different places and with different functions. Replacing one with the other affects the temperature of the enclosure and the operating conditions of the insert.
The Vitcas firebrick accumulation board is offered for creating a warm fireplace enclosure. The name Heat Accumulation Fireboard specifically refers to a board intended for accumulation, not a general term for any non-combustible board.
What does it look like in use?
Imagine two enclosures with comparable burning. A lightweight enclosure changes temperature more quickly. A larger mass for accumulation requires energy to heat up but can also release it after the burning has finished. The actual effect depends on mass, construction, burn pattern, and building heat losses.
It is not possible to determine from the plate name alone how many hours it will stay warm or how much fuel you will save. Such promises would require data for a specific system and usage conditions.
What to check before changing the enclosure?
First, determine the load-bearing capacity of the base and the method of supporting the components. The mass added to the existing enclosure cannot hang on a random fixture. Next, check the insert's requirements regarding ventilation, clearances, and thermal expansion.
Adhesives and finishing must belong to the specified system. HB60 has defined applications in the construction of warm enclosures, but its name does not replace the design of the entire structure. The diagram in the photo shows the role of the layers; it should not be treated as instructions for modifying any fireplace.
Before purchase, prepare a model of the cartridge, a drawing of the current housing, and a plan of changes. The contractor will then be able to assess whether accumulation is possible without worsening the operating conditions of the appliance.
